Autumn is Coming to Oklahoma!

Seasonal decorating is always a challenge for me, although it's one of my favorite things to do.   I've been looking forward to bringing out my autumn things, but with the temperatures in the 90's here in Oklahoma, it seemed a little premature.  Thank you to Marty at A Stroll Through Life for hosting a fall "Tabletop Tuesday" on her site; visit there and you'll see how beautiful she makes the transition from summer to autumn throughout her home.  You'll also have the opportunity to see many other blogger's ideas and examples of how we can decorate for this most beautiful season.  Part of the participation process is for me to offer my own example.  I confess that I haven't made the transition yet (although I surely will begin now), but I have a photograph from last autumn.  The little squirrel was purchased from Martha Stewart about 15 years ago, the leaf he's resting on is from Cracker Barrel, and the acorns and nuts were purchased years ago from Hobby Lobby.  The temperature is already dropping; I can feel the crisp weather of autumn coming on!

I'm a fellow Okie and can't wait for fall. I have put a few little fall items out for display and can't wait for those cool crisp days. I noticed you are reading the Mary Sutter book. I read it a month or so ago and really enjoyed it. I am an avid reader and one of my daughters manages a book store so, I am not ever at a loss for reading material. So want to read The Red Queen, but decided I'd better wait to see if I get it for my birthday in a few days. Hope you have a great fall.

I admit I haven't gotten "the box" out yet b/c it does seem like summer still. Your first touch of fall is wonderful :) Jennifer

Julia,
what a beautiful fall acorn you have.. That little squirrel is adorable too.. I am so glad to see fall finally on its way, though I just heard we'll be having another week in the mid 90's.. Maybe I should put out some fall decor and that might hurry the cooler temps ..

hugs
Sonny

Hi, Mary Ann, it's good to meet another Oklahoma blogger! I finished the Mary Sutter book and plan to write a review on it. I thought it was excellent. I'm not familiar with The Red Queen, but will check it out. Look forward to visiting your blog again! Annie

Thanks, Jennifer! I did enjoy your pretty little pumpkins and your sweet portrait. Pretty soon, we'll be all out for fall, won't we? Annie

Sonny, if we all work together, we can encourage Mother Nature, can't we? :) Thank you for dropping by and visiting my little squirrel! Annie

Thank you, Marty, and thank you for hosting the party. I really enjoy decorating for fall a little early -- we have so much to decorate for -- with autumn, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas all coming September/October through December. This gives us a little extra time to make the fun last longer! Annie

My littlest guy's birthday is the first day of Fall (my favorite season), so a week before, I start decorating for both great events - not until! Because Fall is all his! First on my list: A gi-normous pumkin and one little one for each son. Second, - two rustic vases full of wheat! Then two corn stalks tied with Fall color ribbons by the front door! Oh, you are getting me so revved up!

Thank you Sheila! I think that my little squirrel would love to appear in a vignette with your sweet little green birds! :) Annie

I understand completely about keeping Fall special for your youngest son's birthday! Aren't the most anticipated things the sweetest? I'm with you, Fall's my favorite season; something about it revives me and makes me feel really alive! Thank you for dropping by! Annie

Love your fall display...I have to get some acorns for decorating with...one thing I do not have even though I have seen the for a couple of years. I am glad lower temps and fall is coming your way...it will be 108 this weekend in Phoenix...so tired of temps over 100! Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting.

Hello Annie Joy...

I just read the sweet note that you left for me on my Summer's Tea on the Veranda. Thank you so much for coming by...I enjoyed your visit, my friend!

Ohhh...now if this little fella isn't just the most adorable thing you've ever saw! I love your squirrel on the acorn! He sure does make for a lovely autumn vignette! Thank you for sharing him with us! I'm with you, my friend...it's a bit difficult to go full swing into decorating for autumn when it's still so hot! I'm just one state over...in Colorado and we're still having pretty warm weather. In fact, it's unseasonably warm for this time of the year! I do enjoy decorating for the different seasons though...and autumn is my favorite! I'm sure that it's right around the corner!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!
